Bach Flowers for the Back to School Season

Going back to school can mean big transitions for both children and parents. These changes can include: starting at a new school, getting assigned to new teachers, trying out a new sport or extracurricular activity

Bach Flower Remedies are a system of natural flower essences used to address emotional imbalances and promote overall well-being. They can be helpful for children who may experience anxiety, nervousness, or other emotions associated with going back to school.

Here are some Bach Flower Remedies that could be considered for children during this time:

Mimulus: For children who are shy, timid, or anxious about specific known fears, like starting a new school, making new friends, or facing certain subjects.

Aspen: Useful for children who feel vague, unexplained fears and anxieties, particularly about the unknown aspects of returning to school.

Rock Rose: Helpful for children who experience intense fear, panic, or terror in certain situations, such as speaking in front of the class or facing challenging school tasks.

White Chestnut: For children who have trouble focusing on their studies due to an overactive mind, persistent worries, or unwanted thoughts that interfere with concentration.

Rescue Remedy: This is a combination remedy that can be used for immediate stress relief in challenging or overwhelming situations. It is a blend of Rock Rose, Impatiens, Clematis, Star of Bethlehem, and Cherry Plum.

Walnut: Suitable for children who are going through significant changes or transitions, such as moving to a new school, as it helps to provide stability and support during periods of adjustment.

Larch: Beneficial for children who lack self-confidence and doubt their abilities, which may be relevant when starting a new school year.

Gentian: Useful for children who become easily discouraged or disheartened when faced with setbacks or difficulties in their studies.

Hornbeam: For children who experience mental fatigue and find it challenging to get motivated to start the school day or complete their tasks.

Children and parents can benefit from Bach Flowers, especially during this huge transition. Bach Flowers are administered orally and sometimes you only need one flower at a time, or you can blend up to 7 flowers in a treatment bottle. For children, treatment may be short where only one or several doses is all that's needed to be beneficial. It is often beneficial for other members of the family to be treated as in many cases the child is reflecting or reacting to family challenges or dynamics. Working with a practitioner can offer support in choosing beneficial remedies and learning how to work with them for your children and family. Dr. Bach believed that the remedies are meant as a self-healing tool and so are simple to use.
